SCOPE OF REPRESENTATION

Mr. Sherman handles appeals in the Florida Supreme Court,
in all of the Courts of Appeal
of Florida, and in the Federal Courts of Appeal.

He handles legal issues and other legal support in cases in the trial courts
which are expected to go on appeal.

He works in conjunction with several small or mid-size law firms,
or house counsel, which do not have an experienced appellate attorney
in the firm, and provides critical legal input.

Insurance companies have learned that if appeals are left with a trial firm,
the trial attorney does not have the time nor the temperament to spend a solid week
or more in the law library reading cases and writing a Brief, and therefore he has
a law clerk or young attorney write the Brief, who has little or no expertise in appeals. 
Therefore, many insurance companies send their appeals to Mr. Sherman to make
certain they are done by an appellate expert rather than a law clerk,
and that good caselaw is created for the defense in Southern Reporter.
