James W. Sherman


James Sherman attended The University of Miami School of Law, where he graduated cum laude in 2007 and joined this law firm practicing appellate law.

For his undergraduate studies he attended Florida State University where he earned his degree in English and minored in Spanish. While at FSU and UM, he made the Deans list several semesters.

James spent his summers throughout school clerking in his father's appellate law firm learning appellate law, and participated in the writing of numerous Briefs and Memoranda and observed dozens of Oral Arguments. Since joining the firm in 2007, he has contributed to and written scores of Appellate Briefs, and has handled 27 Oral Arguments as of September 2012.

James is one of a handful of attorneys in Florida who have handled Oral Arguments in all five Courts of Appeal in Florida; the first District Court of Appeal in Tallahassee; the Second District in Tampa; the Third District in Miami; the Fourth District in West Palm Beach; and the Fifth District in Daytona Beach.

During law school, James spent a semester as a law clerk for the Honorable Robert N. Scola, Jr., as well as a semester as a Certified Legal Intern for the Broward County State Attorneys Office.

At The University of Miami School of Law he was a member of the Phi Delta Phi and the American Inns of Court.

James is a native of Fort Lauderdale and enjoys outdoor activities, spending time with his wife, attending sporting events and fishing. He is an avid Dolphins fan.
